Loft Insulation (LI) is an excellent and cost-effective way of improving the thermal efficiency of your home. Insulating your loft is one of the cheaper measures that can be carried out. Normally insulation will be cross laid at joist level between and over the rafters across the whole loft area. If water tanks or pipework are present, then they will be insulated too which will ensure there are no problems caused by the new insulation creating cooler temperatures in the loft space. A walkway to access any tanks will also be created to allow for safe access to maintain them.

An alternative way to insulate lofts is to create a “warm loft”. This means that the loft space will retain its heat as the insulation will be applied in the rafters instead of at joist level.
